AIOSchema IPR Policy and Patent Non-Assertion

Version: v0.5.6 Spec reference: Specification §13.1

Commitment

AIOSchema is committed to remaining implementable on a royalty-free basis, permanently.

Specification License

The AIOSchema specification text is published under CC-BY 4.0.

Reference implementations are published under Apache 2.0.

Patent Non-Assertion Covenant

The founder grants all implementers a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to any patent claims necessarily infringed by a conforming implementation of this specification.

This commitment applies to:

  • All versions of AIOSchema published under the AIOSchema project.
  • All algorithms and mechanisms registered in the AIOSchema registries (Specification §17).

Registry contributors are bound by the same RF commitment for any contributions they make to the registries.

Scope

A conforming implementation is any implementation that correctly implements the AIOSchema specification as published. Implementations that extend the standard with non-conforming behaviours are outside the scope of this commitment for those non-conforming behaviours.

Governance Transition

Upon establishment of the AIOSchema Foundation, IPR stewardship transfers to the Foundation. The RF commitment is irrevocable with respect to all versions published prior to that transition.
